Army foils robbery operation, kills one in Ondo

The men of 32 Artillery Brigade, Akure, the Ondo State capital on Tuesday killed one of the six-man robbery gang on Ilesa-Akure expressway at Igbara Oke in Ifedore Local Government Area of the state.
It was gathered that the soldiers, who were manning a checkpoint in Igbara Oke, with the support of a vigilance group attacked the robbers who were already carrying out a robbery operation on the expressway at about 1.45am on Tuesday.
The robbers were said to have stopped some vehicles on the highway, robbing the travellers when the soldiers and the vigilance group stormed the scene and foiled the operation.

The robbers were said to have engaged the security men in a gun battle. But one of them was killed while five others were reported to have run into the bush.
When contacted, the Assistant Director of Public Relations of the Artilery Brigade, Captain Ojo Adelegan confirmed the incident and urged the people living in the area to give the army any useful information that could lead to the arrest of the fleeing members of the robbery gang.

He said, ” The general public is hereby enjoined to please give useful information on any suspected criminals and their hideouts to the  security agency in Ondo State.
“The Nigerian Army and other security agencies in the state would continue to ensure the security of lives and properties of the people of this state.”
Similarly, the Public Relations Officer of the Ondo State Police Command, Mr. Femi Joseph, said the security agencies in the state were working round the clock to ensure the robbers and criminals were flushed out of state.
