About eighty (80) business establishments have been sealed off by the Osun State Government.
The Acting Chairman, Osun Internal Revenue Service, OIRS, Mr. Bicci Alli while addressing Journalists said a seven-day was given to the affected defaulters through the demand notices which had since lapsed after which another fourteen-day grace period was also granted to them without any response.
Alli, said a Court order empowering them to sealed off the affected defaulting business establishments was obtained by the (OIRS).
Alli emphasised that, " We went to Court and obtained an order to restrain the establishments from operating until they pay up their money.
According to Alli, "Osun Internal Revenue Service is responsible to its responsibilities as it would not relent in clamping down on debtors’ business premises in their failure to perform their civic responsibilities by paying all liabilities due to the Government".
" Osun government is using this IGR which is the alternative avenue of income towards the upliftment and betterment of all and sundry and embarking on the enforcement exercise was not to create hardship for the people of Osun as Mr Rauf Aregbesola is people's governor who is always searching for the complete welfare of the people he govern" Alli added.
The OIRS boss, who strongly appealed to the affected management of the establishments to pay up what they owe to enable them continue their businesses noted that, more would be sealed off if they failed to comply with notices served on them to pay up their money.
Among the business establishments sealed off by the OIRS includes, petrol stations, eateries and hotels among others.
Accompanied the Acting Chairman, OIRS boss Mr. Bicci Alli were Mr. Kunle Adeola Commissioner one in charge of MDAs, Prince Omolade Binuyo Commissioner two in charge of other taxes, Prince Wole Adesanya Commissioner three in charge of informal sector, Mrs Oluwatosin Falomo is the Board Secretary, Alhaji Aderemi Adegoke, Chairman Revenue mobilization and Advisory Committee to Mr. Governor as well as Mr Olalekan Gafar and Mr Biodun Ekebafe.
