Today, the 8th Senate passed the Mutual Assistance in Criminal Matters between Nigeria and Foreign States Bill, 2017 (SB. 224).

This anti-corruption and anti-money laundering Bill, which was sent to the National Assembly by President Muhammadu Buhari, is aimed at creating a legislative framework for collaboration between Nigeria and other foreign nations in the handling of criminal cases.

With globalization and technology aiding transnational crimes, this legislation will support Nigeria’s efforts to work alongside other countries to secure the interests of our citizens.

This Bill will also go a long way in bringing confidence to foreign investors in Nigeria, and demonstrates the commitment and support of the 8th Senate in the fight against corruption at all levels.
