A 21-year-old fashion designer, Zainab Oyeyemi, who allegedly bit a commercial driver and caused him bodily harm, was on Wednesday brought before an Ikeja Magistrates’ Court.
The accused, who lives at No. 22, Abule-Iroko St., in Ogun State, was arraigned before Magistrate A. A. Fashola on a charge of assault.
The Prosecutor, Sgt. Michael Unah, told the court that the accused, a passenger in a commercial bus, committed the offence on Feb. 20, at 11.00 p.m., at Ajegunle Bus Stop, Lagos State.
“The accused unlawfully assaulted Mr Sunday Ezekweka, a commercial bus driver, by giving him a bite on his hand and thereby caused him bodily harm,’’ he said.
Unah said that the assault followed a disagreement between the driver and the accused person.
The prosecutor said that the offence contravened section 173 of the Criminal Law of Lagos State, 2015 (Revised).
However, the accused pleaded not guilty and was granted a bail of N50, 000 with one surety.
